Consultation
Before your PRP injections in Algonquin at CaTara, you'll meet with one of our providers for a consultation. During this time, we will discuss your skin concerns and what you want to achieve. Based on your consultation, we will determine if PRP injections are right for you.
Treatment
Your provider will start by applying a medical-grade numbing cream. This ensures that the procedure is pain-free. We will draw a small amount of your blood and extract the plasma for your treatment. We like to refer to PRP as “liquid gold” because it has a yellow color and the enrichment it can provide your skin. Once we prep the PRP, your medical provider will then strategically inject the PRP into the targeted areas of your skin. We also apply PRP to the exterior of your skin for maximum effect.
Results
Results can be seen almost immediately after your treatment. You will also continue to see improvements in your skin in the weeks that follow your PRP injections. We recommend 3 treatments over 3 months to maximize your results.
Pre-Treatment Instructions
- Wear sunscreen for the week leading up to your appointment to prevent UV damage
- Drink 64 oz. of water a day for 3 days before your PRP facial
Post-Treatment Instructions
- Avoid touching your face for at least 6 hours following your facial.
- When you’re ready to wash your face, first wash your hands with soap. Wash your face using lukewarm water only, avoid cleansers. Then delicately pat dry. Wash in this way for 3 days.
- Sleep on your back for 2 nights.
- Do not use exfoliating products for at least 3 days.

How long does it take to recover from a PRP injections?
Very little recovery time is necessary after PRP injections. You will be able to return to normal activity the following day.
Are PRP injections painful?
There may be minor discomfort after the procedure for a short period. Patients can use over-the-counter painkillers like Tylenol to minimize the discomfort.
Can you see results after one PRP treatment?
Yes, however not immediately. It takes a few weeks for the collagen to start reproducing and you will see subtle improvement over time. Best results are usually seen after 3 treatments.
How often should I get a PRP Injections?
