Catara Med Spa

What is Rosacea:

Rosacea is an inflammatory and vascular disorder of the skin. It is progressive in that it starts with a flushing appearance on the skin and can increase to bouts of redness from visible blood vessels, and can even progress to pustular-type breakouts that can be confused with acne. It can also cause oily and thickened skin. While anyone can have Rosacea, it most commonly affects middle-aged women with fair skin. The cause of rosacea is unknown, but we know many triggers that can cause flare-ups. Triggers include: certain skin care ingredients, diet, stress, alcohol, spices foods, caffeine and environment. Flare-ups often come in cycles that can last weeks or even months at a time.  While there is no cure, our clinical providers at CaTara Med Spa can help you manage your symptoms.

Treatments for Rosacea:

At CaTara, we understand that rosacea management requires a comprehensive approach similar to acne treatment. We utilize various techniques and modalities to address the different aspects of rosacea, including visible blood vessels, background redness, and oil production.

For the treatment of rosacea, we often employ topical creams that help reduce inflammation, oil production, and skin discoloration. Additionally, we utilize benzoyl peroxide, chemical peels with azelaic acid, and LED light therapy, which have proven to be effective in managing rosacea symptoms.

Advanced  Therapies:

Laser therapy is another valuable tool in our arsenal for treating rosacea. We specifically target visible blood vessels, which are often dilated or broken capillaries contributing to the redness. By using lasers, we can cause these vessels to contract and break down, reducing their appearance. Moreover, lasers can also target the red hemoglobin in the background redness, coagulating the blood and allowing the body’s circulatory system to clear the treated area.

To ensure your comfort during the treatment, we utilize a combination of laser and radio frequency technologies, which are not painful. While there is typically no downtime associated with the treatments, it’s important to note that bruising and redness may occur and can last from a few days to two weeks. The number of treatments required varies depending on the severity of your condition, and your progress is continually assessed to determine the appropriate course of treatment.

Things you can do to managing your symptoms:

In addition to the professional treatments, we also emphasize the importance of a home skincare routine and lifestyle and dietary changes to achieve the best outcome for rosacea management. By incorporating multiple treatment modalities and addressing various aspects of the condition, we can provide you with comprehensive care and support on your journey to effectively manage your rosacea symptoms and improve your skin’s appearance.
