20's
Building a Strong Foundation
In our 20's, we need to think about prevention. Now is the time to establish good habits to keep your skin healthy. Protect and Prevent: Sun damage is a leading cause of premature aging. When in the sun, wear a broad rim hat and a broad spectrum, physical sunscreen - we recommend an SPF of 50 or more. Because sun damage accumulates over time, what we do in our 20's will show up in our 40, 50's and 60's. It is also important to reapply susncreen every 2 hours to ensure your skin is protected. Gentle Cleansing: It is important to develop a habit of cleansing the skin at night. We recommend a cleanser suited for your skin type. If wearing make-up or working outside, we also suggest doing a double cleanse at night as our skin can collect dirt and environmental debris during the day. Hydration: Hydration gives our skin moisture and elasticity and Hyaluronic Acid (HA) gets this done.HA holds 1000x its weight in water, so regardless of your skin type, a good quality HA will help keep the skin balanced. Antioxidants: Environmental protectors. Serums like Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Niacinamide, Resveratrol and others protect the skin from environmental damage, support cellular repair, improves discoloration and fine lines and reduces redness. Exfoliation: We lose roughly 30,000 skin cells a day, without proper exfoliation those cells can fall back into our skin creating a dull, dehydrated appearance. Using a chemical exfoliator like a retinol, Alpha-hydroxy acid or Beta-hydroxy acid helps to remove these dead cells and stimulate cellular turnover. It is important to go slow with chemical exfoliators as they can dry the skin. We recommend starting slow. Start using 1 time per week and work up to 2-3 times per week to prevent irritation.
