What to Expect
Consultation
When you come to CATARA for teeth whitening in Algonquin, you will meet one of our clinical providers for an initial consultation. We'll discuss your goals and desired results and make sure this is the best treatment for your needs.
The Procedure
Prior to the actual treatment, we will apply a barrier to protect your gums and any exposed area of the mouth from the whitening gel. You will sit comfortably during your treatment. Every 15 minutes we will evaluate your gums and teeth for sensitivity. At the end of your treatment, we will have you brush and floss your teeth.
Next Steps
We will provide you whitening gel to use at home along with after care recommendations.

Pre-Treatment Instructions:
- Eat and drink prior to your appointment
- Brush and floss your teeth the morning of your appointment
Post-Treatment Instructions:
- Do not eat or drink any dark-colored food or beverages for 4 hours after your treatment
- Some gum sensitivity is normal after treatment, and you may want to brush with sensitive toothpaste until this is gone
- Gum sensitivity is normal and will self-correct within a few days

What is the difference between Zoom teeth whitening and whitening strips?
Zoom teeth whitening can brighten teeth by 8 shades in one 45 minutes session and can last up to 1 year.
Whitening strips can cause gum irritation if over used and can't whiten by 8 shades with one application.
What if I have dental veneers?
Teeth whitenting is not advise for anyone with dental veneers, caps, crowns or fillings in the treatment area. Also, worn teeth, teeth with decay, gum disease or overly sensitive teeth are not advised.
