How does lack of hydration affect your skin?
HydraFacial MD is essentially designed to hydrate and heal your skin. Hydration is necessary for the health and wellbeing of your skin. Without enough hydration and nutrients, your skin will become dry, crack, and start to flake.
Proper hydration is necessary for your skin to produce collagen and elastin. When your skin is dehydrated, it will reduce collagen and elastin production, and this can lead to skin sagging and wrinkle formation.
Over a period of time, your skin will start looking dull and lifeless because of lack of proper hydration and nutrients. This is what the HydraFacial MD procedure treats. By infusing your skin with a variety of vitamins, minerals, and amino acids, it heals damaged tissue and rejuvenates your skin.
The HydraFacial MD process
At our Chicago Gold Coast skin clinic and Downtown Algonquin center, we use the Vortex 4-in-1 Technology for HydraFacial MD. This technology includes four types of Vortex devices, each designed for a different treatment. The HydraFacial MD is done using the following steps:
Your provider at CaTara Medical Spa will start the HydraFacial MD treatment by gently washing your face with water. Then they apply a face cleansing agent to clean your skin thoroughly.
The product used to cleanse your face contains body-friendly and skin-safe ingredients like lactic acid, glucosamine hydrochloride, and antioxidant-rich nutrients. Together, they remove the topmost layer of dirt from the skin and make the skin soft and bright.
This next step offers a much deeper skin exfoliation making your skin very clean, healthy, and hydrated. Your skin is coated with a peel that contains salicylic acid and glycolic acid. This makes your skin softer and gets it ready for extraction. This step removes clogged particles and dead skin that have lodged in the deeper sections of your skin.
At this stage, most of the debris is completely siphoned off, and your skin is ready for the next set of treatments.
During the extraction process the blackheads, whiteheads, acne pus, and any other particles that could not be removed during the exfoliation process are extracted using a high-powered suction tool. Don’t worry, this process doesn’t hurt. The entire HydraFacial MD is a very safe and pain-free process that gives instantaneous results.
A combination of Spiraea ulmaria (meadowsweet) extract, honey and hydrating serums are used to clean the now-unclogged pores and soothe the inflammation in the skin.
Finally, our team of medical specialists will infuse a variety of serums into your skin. These serums contain a combination of antioxidants, peptides, corrective solutions, essential minerals & vitamins, hyaluronic acid, collagen, and moisturizers. These hydrate your skin, stimulate the production of natural collagen and elastin, and make your skin smoother and softer. The nutrients give you an amazing glow and reduce the appearance of discoloration and spots.
Depending on how severely dehydrated and undernourished your skin is, you will be infused with a combination of serums that are completely unique for you.
HydraFacial enhancements to add to your treatment
The best part of the HydraFacial MD is that you can add enhancement treatments to the procedure. Some of the enhancements you can add are:
- Lymphatic drainage
- Special tips – for skin hydration, exfoliation, firming, toning or protection
- LED light therapy
- Boosters – additional serums to provide more aggressive treatment
What can HydraFacial MD treat?
- Dull and tired skin
- Sagging skin, wrinkles and fine lines
- Dark circles, pigmentation, and discoloration
- Black spots
- Clogged pores, blackheads and whiteheads
- Cracked lips and flaky skin
The HydraFacial MD treatment can also be used to treat dry scalp. The generous infusion of serums will hydrate and heal the scalp, reduce flaking, and heal hair follicles. You’ll benefit from thick, soft hair that doesn’t shed.
Eligible candidates for HydraFacial MD
HydraFacial MD is one of the best treatments for people:
- Above the age of 18
- Of any skin type and complexion
- With skin sensitivities
HydraFacial MD vs. Microdermabrasion
While both treatments provide similar results, Microdermabrasion uses an abrasive tip to provide the treatment. This can make microdermabrasion a little painful. People with sensitive skin or light skin may even experience bruising.
However, the Vortex technology is a skin-friendly and gentle technology that doesn’t hurt the skin and makes for a comfortable experience.
HydraFacial MD vs Chemical peel
In a chemical peel, you use condition-specific peels and serums. A peel that is used for exfoliation cannot improve your skin tone or texture. However, in HydraFacial MD, you combine multiple peels and serums, therefore treating a variety of skin conditions.
Additionally, chemical peels work better for lighter skin. Darker skinned people may not always experience the best results. HydraFacial MD, on the other hand, works for people of all skin colors.
Your skin after the treatment
The entire HydraFacial MD procedure hardly takes 30 minutes. Immediately after the treatment, your skin will look lighter, brighter and younger. It will feel silky smooth and tighter. Overall, HydraFacial MD is an excellent treatment to consider just before special occasions and professional events.
Unlike the microdermabrasion and chemical peel, which may leave behind minor redness and bruising, your skin looks completely flawless after the HydraFacial MD. There is zero downtime, and you can return to your daily chores immediately after the treatment.
The results of the procedure last for several weeks. It is recommended that you undergo a session once every 4 to 5 weeks, for lasting results. Contact us at CaTara Medical Spa to schedule a session either at our Historic Downtown Algonquin or Chicago Gold Coast neighborhood centers.
